Internal Linking vs. External Linking

How do I link an element in my demo to an external website or URL, since the default linking menu only allows me to choose other screens?

Within the Demoboost editor, interactive elements support two distinct types of links, and they are configured differently:

Internal Linking (Screen-to-Screen Navigation)
Purpose:
This is the primary function of the default linking menu. It allows you to create a fluid, multi-step demo by directing a user from a clicked element (like a button or menu item) on the current screen to another screen within the same Demoboost demo.

External Linking (Outbound to a URL)
Purpose:
This allows a clicked element to direct the user outside of the Demoboost environment to any URL on the live internet (e.g., your marketing site, a specific product page, a documentation link, etc.).

Methods for Adding External Links

  1. Linking Text in Guides
To embed a link, simply highlight the desired text in the guide. A small menu will pop up; select the link option and paste the full external web address into the provided field.
  2. Using a Call-to-Action (CTA) Button on Guide
If you are using Guides to annotate your screen, you can add a dedicated CTA button to the panel. To do this, select your Guide element and open its settings. Look for the "Add CTA Button" option, and toggle it ON. Once the button appears in your guide, you can then configure its action to "Link to External URL" and paste the destination address.
  3. Using the Floating Button Feature
Finally, for a highly visible and prominent Call-to-Action, you can use the Floating Button feature. To add this element, click "Add Content" and choose "Floating Button" from the dropdown menu and input the web address.
