How to Install Microsoft Clarity on Your Demos Using Google Tag Manager

Microsoft Clarity is a user behavior analysis tool that helps demo/website owners understand how users interact with their site. Installing Clarity via Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a straightforward process that doesn't require you to edit your demo/website's code directly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to integrating Clarity into your demos/website using GTM.

Step 1: Initiate Clarity Setup for GTM

Begin by logging into your Clarity account. Navigate to the Clarity Settings page, and from the left navigation bar, select Setup. Here, you’ll find the option for Google Tag Manager. Click to select and then choose Finish setup to initiate the integration process.

Step 2: Sign into Google Tag Manager

You will be redirected to sign in to your Google Tag Manager account. If you haven't already signed in, enter your credentials and follow the necessary verification steps. Clarity will request permission to publish containers within GTM. You need to click Allow to grant Clarity the necessary permissions.

Step 3: Select Your GTM Account

Once you've granted permissions, a panel will display your GTM accounts and containers. From the Account list, select the relevant account where you want to install Clarity.

Note: If you haven't created a GTM account yet, you'll need to set one up before proceeding. Please read Integrating Google Tag Manager with Demoboost: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 4: Choose Your Container

From the Container menu, choose the container that corresponds to the demo/website on which you want to install Clarity.

Note: If you don't have a container set up, you'll need to create one for your demo/website first.

Step 5: Finalize the Integration

After selecting your container, click on Create and publish. This action will complete the setup process and integrate Clarity with your selected container in GTM. Once done, you will be taken back to the Clarity Settings page, indicating that the GTM setup is complete.

Verifying Your Installation

To ensure Clarity has been installed correctly, you can visit your demos and check for Clarity’s tracking code by using the developer tools in your browser. Additionally, you can look at the Tags section in your GTM account to verify that the Clarity tag has been added and published.

Conclusion

Integrating Microsoft Clarity with your demos through Google Tag Manager is a user-friendly process that enhances your ability to analyze user behavior without complex coding. By following these steps, you can quickly start gaining insights into how users are interacting with your site, allowing you to make data-driven decisions to improve the user experience.
